LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College continues to search for its first NESCAC triumph of the season as the Bobcats dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Wesleyan University in Sunday men's soccer action.
The visiting Cardinals (4-3-4, 1-2-4 NESCAC) snap a six-game winless streak with the victory while Bobcats fall to 0-7 (2-8-1 overall) in conference play.
Sunday's lone tally came in the 22nd minute (21:47) when Wesleyan's Joshwin Jennings netted the game-winner as the Cardinals out-shot its host by an 11-7 margin. Both squads sent only one attempt on frame in the contest.
Mathis Blanc earned the win for Wesleyan while
Trevor Hammond suffered the tough-luck loss. The first-year keeper has compiled a miniscule 1.56 goals-against average over 11 starts this fall.
Bates will return to action Saturday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. visit to Tufts University up next on the docket.
