LEWISTON, Maine (Alumni Gym) -- Tufts University squared off against host-Bates College Saturday afternoon as the visiting Jumbos secured a swift 3-0 conference triumph over the Bobcats in NESCAC women's volleyball action.
The victors coasted to the straight-set decision with wins of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-10 in front of a capacity Back to Bates: Family Weekend crowd.
Tufts (7-7, 2-4 NESCAC) hit .277 as a team, flooring 34 kills collectively on the day. Tori Goldin (Sr.-Califon, N.J.) led the way for the Jumbos with a match-best 11 kills. Rianna Liu (Fy.-Foster City, Calif.) and Maddie Yu (Sr.-San Diego, Calif.) distributed 13 and 12 assists, respectively.Â
For the Bobcats,
Ami Evans paced the offense with five kills, followed by
Emma Patard with four of her own in the effort.
Chrissy Chu recorded 10 assists for Bates.
Ellie Asada led the way with 15 digs.
The Bobcats (3-11, 1-5 NESCAC) now look to play their third match in three days as the garnet and white hosts The University of Maine at Fort Kent Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
