LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College women's soccer hosted its annual senior day celebration Saturday as the Bobcats collectively said "thank you" to senior teammates
Haley Fenlon,
Dargan Harris,
Charlotte Jones,
Rachel Lowell,
Izzy Lussier, and
Maeve Parmelee prior to Saturday's NESCAC home contest vs. Connecticut College.
It did not take the visiting Camels long to kickstart its own celebration as Mya Johnson (Gr.-Old Lyme, Conn.) netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season just 3:34 into the match to provide what would prove to be the game-winner in the eventual 1-0 victory for the road team.
Emma Quilty (Sr.-Hingham, Mass.) recorded the assist on the scoring effort as the defender sent a booming blast out of the Conn. College zone, which was collected by Johnson as she dashed down the right side. The forward then unleashed a blast from about 20 yards out, finding the upper left of the Bobcats' net.
Despite the result, Bates proved to be the aggressor on the offensive end and outshot the Camels 13-12 overall. Conn. College did, however, own a 4-3 advantage on frame.
Mollie Franklin,
Lily Houser, and Parmelee paced the Bobcats with three shots apiece.
Sarah Hall (Tualatin, Ore.) collected the goalkeeping win for the victors as the senior snared three saves over 90:00.
Samantha Bunar also tallied three saves in net for the Bobcats (90:00). The Camels (9-5, 4-5 NESCAC) have now won five games in a row.
Bates (3-8-3, 1-7-1 NESCAC) will conclude the regular-season slate this Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. when the Bobcats host Colby College under the lights of Garcelon Field.
