MEDFORD, Mass. -- For the second-straight outing (10/8 vs. Wesleyan), Bates College experienced a 4-0 NESCAC setback as the Bobcats suffered the aforementioned result at Tufts University Saturday in women's soccer action.
Bates played from behind for a majority of the match as Caroline Kelly (So.-Southborough, Mass.) put the home team ahead 3:27 into the game with her second tally of the season. Coming out of the intermission owning a slim 1-0 surplus, the Jumbos (7-2-3, 3-2-2 NESCAC) unloaded for three scores over a span of 15:50 to put the contest well out of reach for Bates.
Nicola Sommers (Sr.-Branford, Conn.) made it 2-0 Tufts with her second of the year at 51:57. Thalia Greenberg (Sr.-Mill Valley, Calif.) recorded her sixth goal of the campaign at 61:39 while Erin Duncan (2nd of season) closed out the scoring 6:08 later (67:47) to seal the win for the Jumbos.
The victors dominated the shot column, 22-10 (10-4 on goal).
Gigi Edwards (Fy.-Menlo Park, Calif.) pocketed the goalkeeping decision for Tufts, facing zero shots on frame in 68:07 of action.
Ruby Reimann made six saves in the start for the Bobcats (70:57).
Samantha Bunar recorded one save in 19:03 of relief for the garnet and white.
Bates (2-7-3, 1-6-1 NESCAC) will return to its home pitch Sunday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) with its first-ever showdown vs. Colby-Sawyer College (9-4-3). The game will be played on Garcelon Field.
