LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College women's volleyball returned to the win column in style Tuesday night in Alumni Gym as the Bobcats swept the University of Southern Maine, 3-0, in non-conference action.
The Bobcats put a five-match slide behind them with the triumph, sending off the Huskies by scores of 26-24, 25-21, and 25-12. Bates erased deficits of six and five points, respectively, in the first and second sets to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.Â
Bates opened the third-and-final stanza with a 5-0 lead and never looked back as the Bobcats went ahead by as much as 12 points (22-9) before sealing the victory.Â
Coming off Sunday's double-double performance vs. University of Maine-Fort Kent,
Ami Evans continued her strong play by leading all players with 11 kills, complemented by a team-best eight digs.
Chrissy Chu provided a balanced effort consisting of 23 assists, four kills, and six digs.
Katie Kortekaas and
Bella Lomet landed six and five kills, respectively, in the effort.
The Bobcats (4-12) now look ahead to Friday night when they host Hamilton College (6:00 p.m.) in a return to NESCAC play.
