No. 16 Williams takes command early, defeats men's lacrosse 21-8

LEWISTON, Maine -- Jake Haase scored seven goals to lead the visiting No. 16 Williams College Ephs to a 21-8 win over the Bates men's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon at Garcelon Field.

The Ephs (5-3, 4-1 NESCAC) scored the first eight goals of the game, including six in the first quarter, to grab the lead and never look back.

Senior captain Jack Lousararian (Mansfield, Mass.) got the Bobcats (0-8, 0-5 NESCAC) on the board with 7:35 remaining in the second quarter on an unassisted tally. Then sophomore Wil Masterson (York, Maine) found first-year Ben Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and the long pole scored his first collegiate goal, trimming the deficit to 8-2 with 7:21 left in the second.

But Haase and Calvin Caputo scored back-to-back goals and the Ephs once again led by eight at halftime.

Senior captain Jackson Sell (Mill Valley, Calif.) got the scoring started in the third quarter with an unassisted man-up goal and the Bobcats trailed 10-3. Then first-years Bobby Conroy (Kirkwood, Mo.) and Denzel Evans (Baltimore, Md.) scored their first collegiate goals to round out the scoring for the Bobcats.
