LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates baseball team tallied 12 hits and drew nine walks but left 17 on base in a 15-4 loss to Colby Friday afternoon at Leahey Field.
Five Bobcats recorded multi-hit games, with junior
Drew Fallon (Mansfield, Mass.) leading the way, going 2-2 with a run scored, two RBIs, and three walks. Fallon also stole two bases. Senior
Bryan Gotti (Westwood, Mass.) had a big day as well, going 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two walks. Sophomore
Christopher Cimino (Scarborough, Maine) continued his strong season at the plate, going 2-4 with an RBI and a walk.
The Mules (14-6, 2-2 NESCAC) tallied 13 hits and drew seven walks. Cabot Maher led the way for the visitors, going 3-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, an RBI, and a walk.
Bates (6-17, 1-5 NESCAC) trailed 2-1 after two innings, as Fallon drew a bases loaded walk against Mule starter Julian Erro in the bottom of the second.
But Colby struck for five runs in the third to take control of the game. Erro (1-1) earned the win despite giving up seven hits and walking seven batters over five innings.
Ryan Grecco replaced Erro on the mound and tossed three shutout innings out of the bullpen, preventing Bates from rallying.
The Bobcats look to bounce back Saturday when they visit Colby for a doubleheader that gets underway at 11am.
