HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates women's basketball junior captain
Meghan Graff was named the NESCAC Player of the Year on Wednesday and senior
Mia Roy earned second team All-NESCAC honors as the conference released its year-end awards.
Graff (South Portland, Maine) is the sixth Bates player to earn the league's top honor, joining the ranks of
Emily King (2000),
Kate McLaughlin (2001),
Olivia Zurek (2005),
Meg Coffin (2006) and
Val Beckwith (2009). She is averaging 16.3 points and 4.4 assists per game, both good for third in the conference. A second team All-NESCAC selection in 2020, Graff moves up to the first team this year after leading Bates (17-7) to its first conference title in program history.
Graff has scored 20 or more points seven times this season, including a 30-point effort against Bowdoin and back-to-back 20-point games in the NESCAC Semifinal and Championship games. Bates will face Roger Williams in a game hosted by NYU on the campus of St. Francis College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday at 5pm.
Roy (Bedford, N.H.) earns her first career All-NESCAC honor after averaging 12.9 points per game this season and turning in some explosive shooting performances. She broke a NESCAC Championships record with 35 points in the team's quarterfinal win over Middlebury and poured in 32 earlier in the season in a win over Wesleyan.
