HADLEY, Mass. -- First-year forward Rex Lane's spectacular performance in his first two college soccer games have earned him the first NESCAC Player of the Week honors of the 2021 season.

Lane (Orlando, Fla.) scored four goals in his first two college games, including the lone goal in Saturday's 1-0 defeat of Hamilton, in which he patiently found the lane to finish off a counter-attack with an assist from senior captain Alec Szwarcewicz (Newton, Mass.).

In Tuesday's season-opening 9-0 win against Maine Maritime Academy, he scored his first goal less than two minutes after entering the game, and added his second less than a minute after that. Lane made it a hat trick with a no-look, backwards redirect off of his heel on a cross from first-year Tife Agunloye (Monroe, Conn.). 

Lane and the Bobcats (2-0) play their first road game of the season Monday night at the University of New England (1-3).
