SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bates volleyball team lost on the road to a high-quality opponent at Springfield College on Friday night, as the host Pride rose to 17-4 with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19) non-conference victory over the Bobcats in Blake Arena.
Springfield attacked at a .213 percentage for the match in winning its sixth straight. Bates (5-11) was limited to a -.035 percentage on its attacks.
Bates senior
Sydney Phillips (Plainville, Mass.) led the Bobcats with 10 kills, with first-years
Alyssa Lowther (Wyckoff, N.J.) and
Julia Neumann (Norwell, Mass.) adding five and three kills, respectively. Phillips and Lowther both had a pair of blocks.
Senior
Megan Seabury (Santa Barbara, Calif.) led Bates with 10 digs, and junior
Emma Eide (Ramsey, N.J.) had 18 assists.
Natalie Billet had a match-high 12 kills for Springfield, while Jamie Albrecht had nine and Camryn Bancroft added six. Kylie Wixted posted a whopping nine blocks, with Billet adding four, and Albrecht served six aces. Sara Labadorf distributed 24 assists and Hailey Deguire led the Pride with 16 digs.
Bates plays a pair of matches on Saturday at Trinity College, starting with a NESCAC match against the host Bantams at 11am and followed by a 1pm non-conference match against No. 19 nationally ranked MIT.
