LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 17 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team defeated No. 19 Tufts University 6-3 Tuesday at the Bates Squash Center, avenging a 6-3 loss the Bobcats suffered last season at their NESCAC rivals.

The Bobcats swept the top four positions, including straight-set victories for first-year Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador) and junior Maeve O'Brien (Essex, Conn.) at 2 and 3, respectively. Junior Katie Manternach (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grinded out a 3-2 victory against Catherine Shanahan at No. 4.
