No. 15 women's squash defeats No. 18 Tufts 7-2

LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 15 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team swept seven matches on their way to a 7-2 victory over No. 18 Tufts Sunday evening at the Bates College Squash Center.

Senior co-captains Emma Dunn (Bellevue, Wash.) and Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.) both won in their final home matches as Bobcats.

Dunn defeated Sahana Karthik 3-0 (11-1, 11-2, 11-4) at the No. 4 position and Cabot knocked off Lauren Banner 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 11-9) at the No. 5 position.

Dunn's victory clinched the match for Bates (12-3) over the Jumbos (13-3). The victory is the sixth in a row for the Bobcat women.

"It's kind of surreal, I didn't think this day would come," Dunn said. "I feel nothing but happiness right now. I'm so honored to be on this team with these incredible women who have helped support me and helped me finish out my senior year in a strong way."

Junior Blair Weintraub (New York, N.Y.) swept Olivia Ladd-Luthringshauser 3-0 (11-3, 11-2, 11-3) at the No. 6 position.

The Bobcats' trio of sophomores in the starting lineup all won again as well.

Sophomore Kristyna Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) took down Hannah Burns 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-4) at the No. 2 position and sophomore Vicky Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) won 3-0 (11-4, 11-0, 11-7) over Catherine Shanahan at the No. 3 position.

Meanwhile sophomore Katie Bull (Sudbury, Mass.) showed off the Bobcats' depth with a 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-4) victory over Sahar Tirmizi at the No. 7 position.

At the top of the ladder, first-year Luca Polgar (Budapest, Hungary) had no problem with the Jumbos' Claire Davidson in a 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-6) victory.

Bates is back in action at the NESCAC Championships this upcoming weekend on the campus of Amherst College.
