HARTFORD, Conn. -- The No. 17 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team ran into a buzzsaw on Saturday, falling 9-0 on the road to No. 1 nationally ranked Trinity College.
The Bantams have won 15 national titles, including 13 in a row from 1999-2011, and rank as perhaps the greatest dynasty in the history of collegiate athletics.
Senior Ahmed Hatata (Alexandria, Egypt) more than held his own at the No. 1 position, taking the Bantams' Michael Craig to four games before falling 3-1 (11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-3). Meanwhile, at the No. 3 position, first-year Mahmoud Yousry (Cairo, Egypt) kept things close in every game in his collegiate debut in a 3-0 (11-9, 11-8, 11-9) loss to Omar Allaudin.Â
First-year Graham Bonnell (Southport, Conn.) didn't go down without a fight in his collegiate debut against Andrew Lee at the No. 6 position. Two of the three games in his 3-0 (12-10, 11-9, 11-1) loss were extremely close.Â
The Bobcats remain in Hartford to take on No. 29 nationally ranked Connecticut College Sunday at 1:00 p.m.Â
