Bates (1-5) picked up victories at the top two spots as first-years Kristyna Alexova and Vicky Arjoon won their matches at the No. 1 and 2 positions respectively. 

Alexova (Boskovice, Czech Republic) dominated her match at the top spot, sweeping Middlebury's Saskia Pownall-Gray in straight sets 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-0). Meanwhile Arjoon (Georgetown, Guyana) won her match 3-1 (11-8, 11-4, 4-11, 11-6) over Tiffany Hau. 

Senior captain Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), coming off a win in her match against top-ranked Trinity, won again on Friday, defeating Middlebury's Caroline Jahrling at the No. 6 spot 3-1 (11-0, 11-13, 11-5, 11-5).

The other six matches went Middlebury's way though. Bates did force three of the six games they dropped to four sets.

The women's team takes on Williams Saturday at noon as the Maine Round Robin continues at the Bates Squash Center.
