AMHERST, Mass. -- The No. 18 Bates women's squash team saw their two-match winning streak snapped by No. 10 George Washington Saturday night in a 7-2 defeat at the Pioneer Valley Invitational.
Bates (3-7) did get wins at the No. 6 and No. 9 positions. Junior co-captain Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.) won at No. 6 with a sweep of Brooke Feldman (11-8, 11-5, 11-4). Blair Weintraub '18 (New York, N.Y.) also swept her opponent. She won 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, 12-10) at the No. 9 position against Jessica Perkins.
Every match resulted in a sweep except at the No. 7 position where senior co-captain Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) battled her opponent, Mehak Chawla, in a tight four-set patch. Williams fell behind 2-0 before rallying to take set three 12-10. Set four was an epic battle that ended with Williams falling just short by a score of 14-16.
Bates looks to get back on the winning track Sunday at Amherst. The match begins at 1:30 p.m.Â
