WHITTIER, Calif. -- The Bates women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and picked up another three wins in singles Friday afternoon, defeating Whittier College 6-3.
Senior Elena Mandzhukova (Lisbon, Portugal) and sophomore Elizabeth Erbafina (Sudbury, Mass.) won the number one position in doubles 8-6, while teammates Maisie Silverman (Brunswick, Maine) and Kelsey Pearson (Orange, California) took the number two position, 8-6. Emma Blakeley (Hope, Maine) and Kate Rosenthal (Pittsburgh, Pa.) picked up the number three doubles win, 8-3.
Erbafina and Silverman also won in singles competition, winning 2-0 in the number two and three spots. Blakeley secured the final win for the Bobcats in the number six position. Bates returns to action on Saturday versus Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
