PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The No. 15 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team faced a pair of top 10 foes to start the 2015 portion of the season on Saturday at Stanford University, falling by 8-1 scores against both No. 8 George Washington and No. 7 Stanford.
Bates senior
Nessrine Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia) accepted a hard-fought 3-2 decision to GW's Alejandra Poras, but came back to register a 3-2 win over the host Cardinal's No. 1 player, CC Ho.

Lesea Bourke (Greenwich, Conn.) gained Bates' other point for the day, defeating the Colonials' Anne Poras 3-1 for Bates' score. Senior
Myriam Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) fell by a 3-2 score against GW, and first-year
Charlotte Cabot (Dover, Mass.), while losing both of her matches at the No. 7 position by 3-0 scores, took two games to 16-14 scores and two more to 14-12 scores.
The Bobcats (3-4) will play next Saturday, Jan. 10 at both Mount Holyoke (11am) and Amherst (5pm).
