Men's soccer wins third straight game

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates men’s soccer team won its third straight game today after defeating Trinity College in a conference game, 4-1. Bates is now 3-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the NESCAC, while Trinity falls to 1-5 on the season and 0-4 in the conference.



David Shear (Concord, Mass./Concord-Charlisle) scored only 3:10 into the game with the assist from George Carr (Concord, Mass./Middlesex School). With 20:16 remaining in the first half, Brent Morin (Hanover, N.H./Hotchkiss School) went one-on-one with goalkeeper, Zac Trudeau (Norwell, Mass./Milton Acad.) and scored with Terrence O’Connell (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) assisting. Three minutes later Brendan Nangle (Westport, Conn./Staples) scored unassisted on a breakaway.

Freshman Matthew Miller (Princeton, N.J./Hun) knocked in a goal to start off the second half and to put the Bantams on the board with Russell Smith (Fair Haven, N.J.) assisting. O’Connell scored the final goal of the game unassisted with an offensive steal.



Goalkeeper Aaron Schleicher (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) posted four saves, while Trudeau recorded three.



The Bobcats will host the University of New England on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
