Sophomore Caroline Apathy (Devon, Pa.) turned in a huge performance for the women's swimming team at the NESCAC Championships over the weekend.

She started the meet on Friday by helping Bates take third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay race, earning All-NESCAC honors for the top-three finish. Junior Janika Ho (Los Angeles, Calif.), first-year Suzy Ryckman (Riverside, Conn.), first-year Maya Reynoso Williams (Somerville, Mass.) and Apathy finished the championship final in 1:35.13, 0.05 behind second place Connecticut College and 0.94 seconds ahead of fourth-place Tufts.

Two races later, Apathy finished second in the 50-yard butterfly for the second straight year, touching the wall in 24.95 seconds, 0.04 off of her own team record time of a year ago. Apathy picked up her second All-NESCAC award of the night with the performance.

Then on Saturday, Apathy claimed first place in the 100-yard butterfly and broke Bates' team record in the process, finishing the championship final in 54.54 seconds, 0.48 ahead of runner-up Maia Hare of Williams. The previous team record of 54.90 was set by Ho.

Three races prior, Apathy helped Bates finish third in the 200-yard medley relay, earning All-NESCAC honors for Ho, junior Emmy Daigle (Portland, Ore.) and Ryckman. Bates nipped fourth-place Tufts by 0.06 seconds, in a time of 1:43.87 -- one hundredth of a second off of the team record set at the 2018 NCAA Championships by Ho, Logan McGill, Apathy and Hope Logan.

Apathy capped off her outstanding weekend by placing sixth in the 100-yard freestyle on Sunday, in an NCAA B-cut time of 51.72.
