On Friday, Farrington anchored the distance medley team, which combined to race to the finish in 10:13.47. The three teams ahead of them all broke the previous meet record in the event of 10:10.99, which had stood for 12 years. The fourth-place finish for Bates was good for five points.

Overall, Bates men's track and field team edged conference rival Amherst by half a point to secure fifth place out of 25 schools at New Englands.

It's the program's best showing at indoor New Englands since Bates also finished fifth in 2016. The Bobcats finished with 51.50 points and Amherst came in sixth with 51 points on the nose. The Bobcats finished only three points out of fourth place.
