Senior All-American Jillian Richardson (Auburn, Maine), earned her second consecutive individual Maine State Meet individual crown with a blazing time of 17:48.0 on the 5K course at Saxl Park. The No. 19 nationally ranked Bates women's cross country team became the first Division III squad to win six straight Maine State Meets in a commanding first-place finish Saturday. Bates, ranked No. 3 in the East Region, scored 18 points for the top spot. Bowdoin, No. 5 in the region, finished second with 67 points. The region's No. 7 team, Colby, took third in the meet with 76 points.

Bates will have to wait two weeks to get back at it as the garnet and white competes in the Connecticut College Invitational (Harkness State Park-Waterford, Conn.) on Saturday, Oct. 15.
