An Alec Szwarcewicz laser beam in the 85th-minute snapped a 1-1 tie and secured the first NESCAC victory of the year for Bates College as the Bobcats finished off visiting Trinity College, 2-1, Saturday in men's soccer action.

A Trinity infraction at 84:46 set up the winning tally as Szwarcewicz (Newton, Mass.) scorched a bending direct kick from the top of the box into the upper right, resulting in the senior's team-leading fourth goal of the year. The victory evens Bates' overall record at 4-4.
