Senior captain Tully Hannan finished sixth overall in leading the men’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish at NCAA Regionals on Nov. 16 and to a spot in the NCAA Championships on Saturday to earn Bobcat of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 11-17.

A two-time All-American, Hannan completed the 8-kilometer course with a time of 24:47.80 – the sixth fastest time out of 366 competitors. Hannan also captured All-New England honors for finishing in the top 35 at the event.

The West Hartford, Conn., native’s efforts helped land the Bobcats an invitation to the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive year. Last year Bates came in sixth after finishing in seventh in 2011. As an individual, Hannan came in fifth in 2012 and 27th in the year prior.

Also at the regional meet, senior captain Mike Martin (Slatersville, R.I.) and junior John Stansel (Newburyport, Mass.) gained all-regional honors with 21st (25:16.71) and 24th (25:18.62) place finishes respectively. Senior captain Noah Graboys (Glencoe, Ill.) and sophomore Gregg Heller (Walla Walla, Wash.) came in 38th and 69th to round out the scoring for Bates.
