Junior captain and thrower Sean Enos took the top spot on the shot put national descending order list in Division III and won the weight throw in the Bates Invitational on Saturday to earn Bobcat of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 13-19.

Enos also captured USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week laurels for his efforts, the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Monday.

A native of Lynnfield, Mass., Enos gained the association’s Division III men’s award after tossing a 55-11 in the shot put, giving him a 10-inch lead on Colt Feltes of Wartburg among national leaders. At the meet, his throw placed second behind only Division I Maine’s Justin Gagne who recorded a 57-1.5 in the event. Enos’ toss sailed more than eight feet farther than the next closest DIII competitor.

Also on Saturday, the graduate of St. John’s Prep captured first place in the weight throw with a top heave of 61-4.75, ranking him second in the event nationally. His throw sailed nearly three feet past the toss of runner-up Wilson Adams of Maine. Enos’ winning mark made him the only man in DIII so far this year with throws of greater than 61 feet at two separate meets.

Enos and the Bobcats return to action at the Terrier Classic at Boston University on Saturday.
