Senior Wally Pierce recorded 14 draw controls, three goals, and one assist as women’s lacrosse beat Conn. College 15-12 and fell to Tufts in overtime 11-9 last week, gaining Bobcat of the Week accolades for the week of April 14-20.
The Weston, Mass., native tied her career high with nine draw controls in the Bobcats’ narrow defeat to the Jumbos on Tuesday while also contributing two goals, an assist, and two ground balls.
In Bates’ win over the Camels on Friday, Pierce posted five draw controls, a goal, a ground ball, and a caused turnover to help the Bobcats improve to 4-5 in NESCAC play.
On the season, the Middlesex School graduate leads the NESCAC with 69 draw controls and has tallied 14 more than anyone else in the league. Tufts’ Brigid Bowser ranks second in the conference with 55 draw controls.
Pierce’s mark stands as the most draw controls a Bobcat has accumulated in the past 10 seasons as Jenna Dannis ’12 previously held the top spot with 56 draw controls in 2011. Pierce also now holds the program record for career draw controls with 167, three ahead of Dannis' 164 from 2009-12.
Pierce and the Bobcats conclude the regular season when they host Colby on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Bates will then await its fate in the NESCAC Championship which begins on Saturday.
