First-year Janika Ho (Los Angeles, Calif.) turned in five All-NESCAC performances at the 2017 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Bowdoin College over the weekend.

Her impressive results include:

  • 2nd in 200 free relay (1:34.11/1:34.52)
  • 2nd in 50 fly (25.01)
  • 2nd in 100 fly (54.90)
  • 2nd in 800 free relay (7:32.19)
  • 4th in 200 medley relay (1:45.05)
  • 3rd in 400 free relay (3:27.80)
On Friday, Ho led off in the 200 free relay. The 200 free relay team's prelim time of 1:34.11 broke the meet and pool records. It also shattered the Bates team record in the event.

Ho got back in the pool to record a scorching time of 25.05 seconds in the prelims of the 50-yard butterfly, second fastest in the field. Ho's time broke Logan McGill's former team record of 25.51 seconds, set in 2015. She then broke her own record in the finals.

On Saturday, Ho broke her second individual Bates record in as many days with her second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, replacing the former mark of 55.65 seconds set by Lindsey Prelgovisk '16 at the 2016 NCAA Championships. Ho swam a 55.01-second trial before lowering the record to 54.90 seconds in the final.

Ho was also part of the 800 free relay team's NCAA B-cut time of 7:32.19 on Saturday and the 400 free relay teams's third place finish on Sunday, which represented Bates' fourth top-three (and All-NESCAC) performance out of five relays overall at the meet.
