Bates senior Charlie Fay (Falmouth, Maine) scored a career-high eight goals and added four assists in the Bobcats' 26-14 victory over Amherst in the third round of the NCAA Championships.

Fay moved into second place in men's lacrosse history for career goals scored. He entered Saturday's contest needing seven goals to surpass Shane Kokoruda '95 in the record books. Fay's career-high eight goals on Saturday gives him 160 in his career. His 12 points give him 96 on the season and move him out of a tie for the team record with Kokoruda's 84 points.

The 40 goals combined that were scored in the game are an NCAA Tournament record in any division. The previous Division III record was 38 in the Hobart/MIT game of 1980 and the Washington College/Springfield College game of 1985. The previous NCAA Tournament record was 39 goals, set in a Division II game between Ohio Wesleyan and Kutztown in 1976.
