Bates men's swimming and diving senior captain Marrich Somridhivej broke the NESCAC record in the 100-yard breaststroke to lead the Bobcats to victory in a dual meet at Middlebury on Sunday. The men's team outscored the Panthers by a score of 175.5 to 114.5. 

Somridhivej dominated the 100-yard breaststroke with his winning time of 53.07 as the Bobcats took the top four spots in the race. He breaks his own school record in the event and also surpasses the previous NESCAC record of 53.47 seconds, set by Williams College's Jacob Grover in 2022.

Other Somridhivej highlights from the weekend include:
  • Helping the Bates 200-yard medley relay team set a Tarbell Pool record with their winning time of 1:30.28 on Friday against Gettysburg.
  • Winning the 50 breast in 25.63 seconds and the 100 breast in 55.69 seconds against Gettysburg.
  • Helping the Bates 200-yard freestyle relay team emerge victorious in 1:23.46 against Gettysburg.
  • Helping the Bates 200-yard medley relay team win their race against Middlebury in 1:32.54.
  • Helping the Bates 200-yard freestyle relay team emerge victorious in 1:24.08 against Middlebury.
  • Finishing runner-up to teammate and defending NCAA Division III champion Max Cory in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 45.98 seconds.
