Recorded a .992 fielding percentage behind the plate and caught 19 runners stealing to lead NESCAC catchers.... Finished 1st in the NESCAC and 18th in the country in on-base percentage (.527).... 2018: First Team All-NESCAC catcher.... Batted .253 and tied for second on the team in runs batted in (16), but it was his batter's eye that distinguished him.... Arend ranked among conference leaders and paced the Bobcats in bases on balls (30) and on-base percentage (.460).... He appeared in 32 games including 31 starts and was assessed one error on the season, for a .996 fielding percentage.... Behind the plate, he helped Bates pitchers rank second in the NESCAC in earned-run average in conference games, at 3.49.... Scored two runs and drew walks at Occidental (Feb. 19)....
