Zachary Caraviello begins his third season as men's basketball assistant coach at Bates College in 2026-27.
In 2025-26, Caraviello assisted head coach Jon Furbush '05 as Bates enjoyed one of their best seasons, going 18-9 and making the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the second time in program history. After tallying five NESCAC victories during the regular season, Bates notched an historic win at Amherst in the NESCAC Quarterfinal, their first road victory over the Mammoths since 1991 and their first time advancing to the NESCAC semifinal since 2012. Forward Babacar Pouye '27 earned first team All-NESCAC, first team All-State, second team All-District, and D3hoops.com third team All-Region honors.
Caraviello joined the Bobcats after serving as assistant coach and defensive coordinator at NCAA Division II Assumption University during 2023-24. Prior to that tenure, Zachary was an assistant coach (2020-2022) and associate head coach (2022-23) at Division II Franklin Pierce University where he helped guide the Ravens to an overall record of 35-23 during his time with the program.
As an undergraduate at UMass-Lowell, Caraviello was the the head student manager (2018-2020) for the Division I Hawks.
Zachary earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the institution, graduating magna cum laude. He was a member of the National Economics Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon.
