GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The NCAA has announced dramatic weather-related changes to this year's NCAA Rowing Championships, with all the action for Division III now taking place on Friday.
The Division III heats are being moved to earlier in the day, with the Bates women's second varsity eight's heat set for 7:30 a.m. on Friday and the first varsity eight racing at 7:46 a.m.Â
There will be no repêchages. The top three boats from each heat advance directly to the grand finals, now set for Friday afternoon instead of Saturday.
Update: Both Bates crews advanced to their respective grand finals with strong performances Friday morning at NCAAs. The first varsity eight won their heat in 6:39.032.
The second varsity eight grand final is set for 3:32 p.m. and the first varsity eight grand final will take place at 3:40 p.m.
Weather-permitting, award ceremonies will take place for NCAA Division II and Division III following the conclusion of D1 racing on Friday. The final D1 race is set for 5:32 p.m.Â
The Bates women's team won the 2026 NESCAC title and the Bobcats are looking to win the program's sixth NCAA rowing championship, with their last national title coming in 2021.
