MEDFORD, Mass. — A seven-goal halftime deficit proved too much for Bates to overcome, as No. 3 Tufts secured a 16–8 NESCAC win Wednesday night at Bello Field.
Bates (6-7, 2-6 NESCAC) fell behind early and trailed 9–2 at the break, as Tufts (10-2, 5-2 NESCAC) scored the game's first three goals and controlled much of the opening half.
Laci Raveis put Bates on the board with 12:23 left in the second quarter, snapping a 5–0 Tufts run. The Jumbos answered with four of the next five goals before
Caroline Keating connected with 21 seconds remaining in the half, trimming the deficit to seven at intermission.
Tufts extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring Bates 7–2 to push the margin to 16–4 heading into the final period. Allie Zorn (Sr.-Bedford, Mass.) paced the Jumbos with six goals, while Schuyler Lloyd (Jr.-Wenham, Mass.) added two goals and six assists in a dominant offensive showing.
The visitors showed fight down the stretch, scoring four of the game's final five goals. Raveis,
Grace Cassin, and Keating each found the back of the net during the fourth quarter, with Keating (4 G, 1 A) adding two late tallies.

Virginia Avery made 11 saves in 45:00 for Bates.
The Bobcats will close out their regular-season road slate Saturday with a NESCAC visit to Connecticut College. Start time is set for noon and will be played at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
