Bates Women's Lacrosse Puts Together 18-6 Road Win at Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Bates put the game out of reach early and never looked back Tuesday afternoon, rolling to an 18-6 non-conference win over Plymouth State at Panther Field.

The Bobcats scored six times in the opening quarter and added six more in the second, taking a commanding 12-2 lead into halftime and controlling the game throughout.

Samantha Collins opened the scoring just 21 seconds into the contest, and Bates quickly followed with three more goals in a span of 7:13 to build a 4-0 advantage. Laci Raveis scored twice during that stretch, while Grace Yonchak added a free-position tally as the Bobcats seized early momentum.

After Plymouth State got on the board at 5:32 in the first, Bates closed the opening session with two more goals — including Caroline Keating's strike with one second remaining — to take a 6-1 lead.

The second quarter removed any doubt.

Yonchak scored twice in the opening 54 seconds of the period, part of a five-goal burst in the first 5:45 that pushed the lead to 11-1. Zoe Schaedle, Sarah Stavrovich, and Keating all found the back of the net during the run as Bates overwhelmed the Panthers on both ends.

Bates extended the lead to 15-2 late in the third quarter before trading goals over the final 15 minutes, with Keating scoring twice in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Bates finished the day with eight different goal scorers, led by four goals apiece from Raveis and Keating. Yonchak added three goals and two assists, while Collins contributed two goals and two assists. Lauren Wong facilitated the offense with a team-high three assists.

Virginia Avery earned the win in goal with four saves over the opening 51:02,  while Molly Urbonas added one save in 8:58 of relief.

Bates (4-5) returns to NESCAC play Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. visit to No. 22 Williams.
