BOSTON -- The Bates men's track and field team turned in a number of impressive performances on their way to a seventh place finish at the New England Division III Indoor Championships, held Sunday at the TRACK at new balance.
The Bobcats scored 37 points as a team, just one point out of a tie for fifth.
Meet Highlights
- Sophomore Nate Roberts (Summit, N.J.) took third in the 800 meters in 1:52.08, good for second on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list. Meanwhile, junior Callahan Porter (Chester, N.J.) was 11th in the field of 23 athletes with a time of 1:53.64, good for fifth all-time at Bates.
- Junior Miles Logan (Brunswick, Maine) finished fourth in the 1,000 meters in 2:27.45, putting him fourth on the Bates all-time performance list in the event.
- Senior captain Ross Tejeda (Milton, Mass.) took fourth in the mile in 4:10.36.
- First-year Alex Rodgers (Lowell, Mass.) placed seventh in the 600 meters with a time of 1:23.10, good for eighth on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Porter, Roberts, Logan, and Tejeda teamed up to run the 4x800 relay in 4:10.36, good for fourth place out of 20 teams at the meet and 10th on the Bates all-time performance list.
- The Distance Medley Relay team of sophomore Davis Brown (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), first-year Briggs Catino (Rye, N.H.), Rodgers, and junior Jack Crum (Bristol, Vt.) placed third with a time of 10:12.26.
- Sophomore Ryan Glaser (Rockport, Maine) scored points for Bates in multiple events, placing fourth in the 35-pound weight throw with a top effort of 56-1.75 (17.11m) and sixth in the shot put with a personal-record heave of 48-5.25 (14.76m).
Bates men's indoor track and field will send select athletes to the Tufts Last Chance Meet this Saturday.
