LEWISTON, Maine -- No. 12 Bates women's basketball led throughout and secured a 69–49 home victory over Trinity College Friday night at Alumni Gym, moving to 19–2 overall and 6–1 in NESCAC play.
Bates led 19–13 after the first quarter and took a 31–24 advantage into halftime. The Bobcats then outscored Trinity 19–10 in the third quarter to extend the margin to 50–34 entering the fourth. The garnet and white continued to add to its lead in the final period, pushing the margin to a game-high 24 points with 6:14 remaining before closing out the win.
Elsa Daulerio led all players with 17 points, complemented by the senior's game-high three blocks.
Sarah Hughes (five assists) and
Lily Lambo each scored 10 apiece, while Lambo also secured a career-best eight boards.
Lily Brown added nine points in 16 minutes off the bench.
Petra Kuncz contributed six points and five rebounds in 13 minutes of action.
The Bobcats' depth was on full display as the home team posted 29 bench points (vs. just 12 for Trinity). Bates also garnered a 38-26 scoring margin in the paint.
Maya Carnes paced the Bantams (15-7, 4-4 NESCAC) with 11 points. Marlos Simms recorded a double-double consisting of 10 points and 11 boards in the setback.
Bates now prepares for Sunday's regular-season home finale vs. Wesleyan University (6-13, 1-6 NESCAC) with the opening tip slated for 1:00 p.m. The Bobcats will honor its senior class during a special Senior Day pregame celebration on what will also be National Girls and Women in Sports Day in Alumni Gym.
