STANDISH, Maine -- No. 14 Bates College women's basketball closed out non-conference play for the regular season Saturday, rolling to an 83–45 road win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine at the Harold Alfond Center.
The Bobcats demonstrated balance from the opening tip, with 15 of the 16 student-athletes on the roster finding the scoring column in the victory. Bates led 22–14 after the first quarter and 35-23 at the break to steadily widen the gap. A 28–11 showing in the third frame put the game firmly out of reach, 63-34, heading into the final 10:00.
Elsa Daulerio, who has netted double-digits in 14 of the Bobcats' 18 contests, paced the victors with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
Abby Magendantz added a career-high 12 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
Sarah Hughes chipped in nine points and seven rebounds as the Bobcats shot better than 52 percent from the field. Bates held a decisive 42-24 edge in the paint.
With the win, Bates wrapped up non-conference play with a 13–1 record and improved to 16–2 overall on the season. The host-Monks drop to 7-10 with the loss.
The garnet and white now turns its attention back to NESCAC action, traveling to Williams College on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
