Evan Migdole led a 1-2 finish for the Bobcats in the 400 meters as the Bates men's indoor track and field team kicked off the new year on Saturday at the non-scoring Wesleyan Invitational.
Meet Highlights
- Migdole (Westbrook, Conn.) raced to the finish in the 400 meters in 51.53 seconds, good for first place out of 28 runners. First-year Briggs Catino (Rye, N.H.) took second place in 52.31 seconds.
- Junior Matt Charpentier (York, Maine) was second in the shot put out of 30 throwers with his top heave of 51-2.25 (15.60m) coming on his final attempt of the day. First-year George Klatsky (Falmouth, Maine) took seventh with a top effort of 44-7 (13.59m).
- Sophomore Ryan Glaser (Rockport, Maine) was third in the 35-pound weight throw with his personal-record toss of 55-6.25 (16.92m) and sophomore Henry Hood (Hinsdale, N.H.) placed eighth with his personal-record effort of 46-0.5 (14.03m)
- Sophomore Nick Nicolazzo (Wellesley, Mass.) placed third out of 25 competitors in the long jump at 21-2 (6.45m) and fifth out of 17 competitors in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-10.75 (1.80m).
- Sophomore Andrew Batista (Roselle Park, N.J.) took third out of 10 competitors in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 12-7.5 (3.85m).
- Senior captain Carson Moellering (Natick, Mass.) was sixth in the long jump with a personal-record mark of 20-6.5 (6.26m).
The Bobcats return home this upcoming Friday and Saturday to host the Bates Invitational & Multi at Merrill Gymnasium.
