BIDDEFORD, Maine – For the second time this month, the University of New England outlasted the Bates College volleyball team in five sets, earning a 3-2 victory on Saturday evening at the Harold Alfond Forum. Set scores were 25-20, 19-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-13.
The Nor'easters also defeated the Bobcats in five sets on Sept. 6 in Lewiston.
Jaime Bartley-Cohen (Fy.) led Bates with 13 kills while hitting .357. The first-year also gathered 17 digs to secure her first collegiate double-double. Sofia Castiglioni (Jr.) added 12 kills and a team-high four aces as the junior posted a third-straight outing with 10+ kills. Ami Evans (Sr.) also floored 12 kills in the match while Anaïs Reneaum (So.) delivered nine kills with a .364 efficiency.
Lauren Croom (So.) dished out 40 assists to go with 10 digs as the sophomore authored her third double-double of the season. Ellie Asada (Sr.) anchored the defense with 30 digs.
UNE (6-7) hit .231 as a team, paced by Hannah Nowell's 13 kills. Chloe Miracle (11 kills, 18 digs) and Elijah Hanley (10 kills, 11 digs) each contributed double-double efforts in the win.
Bates (6-4), looks to snap its two-match slide this Friday when the Bobcats host Middlebury College at 7:00 p,m. in Alumni Gym.
