KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bates men's basketball was honored with a 2024-25 Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and six Bobcats were named to the NABC Honors Court on Thursday, representing outstanding achievement in the classroom by collegiate men's basketball teams and student-athletes.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Bobcats sported a cumulative GPA of 3.36.
The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Sociology major
Chiwer Mayen '26 (Lewiston, Maine), economics major
Elliott Cravitz '26 (Denver, Colo.), psychology majors
Garvin McLaughlin '25 (Milton, Mass.), and
Grant Nadeau '25 (Gorham, Maine), as well as sociology major
Lincoln Rybeck '25 (South Glastonbury, Conn.) and economics major
Peter Psyhogeos '26 (Yarmouth, Maine), all earned spots on the NABC Honors Court for their work in the classroom.
This is the second straight year that McLaughlin, Nadeau, and Rybeck have been named to the Honors Court.
"Education is one of the NABC's five core values, and we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of these programs and individual student-athletes across our sport," NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson said. "The dedication and hard work of these athletes, along with their coaches and support staff members who prioritize academic success, deserves to be widely celebrated."
