HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates men's basketball sophomore forward
Babacar Pouye is a second team All-NESCAC and a second team All-State selection, as announced Thursday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference and the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association.
Pouye (Carpinteria, Calif.) was also named to the MMBCWA's All-Defensive Team.
Pouye averaged 12.1 points per game this season and led the Bobcats on the boards with six rebounds per game. He shot .500 from the floor and Pouye's 1.9 blocked shots per game is tied for second-most in the NESCAC.
These are the first All-NESCAC and All-State honors of Pouye's career. Some of his top performances included 16 points and 10 rebounds against UMaine Presque Isle, a season-high 23 points on 9-11 shooting at Thomas College, 19 points and seven rebounds against Bowdoin, 19 points and eight rebounds at Colby, 20 points and seven rebounds at Bowdoin, 16 points and seven rebounds against No. 1 nationally ranked Wesleyan, and 16 points and six rebounds at nationally ranked Tufts.
Pouye is the first Bates men's basketball player to earn All-NESCAC honors since
Steph Baxter '23 in 2022.
The Bobcats finished their season with 10 wins, their most victories since the 2019-20 campaign.
