CLINTON, N.Y. -- Bates College women's tennis wrapped up back-to-back days of NESCAC road action with a 5-2 defeat at Hamilton College Sunday afternoon.
The contest opened with the Continentals taking two of three doubles contests to earn the initial point.
Ava Lyon and
Isabella Saul teamed up to defeat Hamilton's Kate Solowey and Ally Turtledove by a score of 6-3 at No. 3 doubles to help the Bobcats avoid the sweep.
In singles competition,
Olivia Gidlow collected a straight-set (6-3, 6-4) win over Hannah Walpole at No. 4 singles to earn Bates its first point of the match.
Lizzie Frekko also proved victorious as the senior outlasted Hamilton's Samantha Rainero by the score of 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-3) in a pair of extended sets at No. 6.
The Continentals move to 6-5 (2-3 NESCAC) with the victory while the garnet and white ends the day at 4-11 overall (2-4 NESCAC). The Bobcats now return home to host Trinity College Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in another conference contest.
