AUBURN, Maine -- The Bates men's cross country team edged rival Bowdoin by six points and took first place out of 10 teams Saturday at Roy's Disc Golf to capture their seventh Maine State Meet title in the last 10 years.

Andrew Mottur (Rumford, R.I.) led the way for Bates, finishing fourth out of 104 runners with a time of 26:01.8 to earn All-State honors for a top-seven finish. Senior captain
Ben Huston (Vergennes, Vt.) joined Mottur in the top seven, taking sixth place in 26:02.9.
Bowdoin runners finished in the top three spots. But Bates' depth ruled the day. Sophomore

Ross Tejeda (Milton, Mass.), and junior captain
Jackson Monz (Logan, Utah) took the eighth through 11th places in the field. First-year
Christopher Pottle (Winthrop, Maine) rounded out the scoring in 14th place with a time of 26:44.9.
Meanwhile, Bowdoin's next-best finisher after their top three finished in 21st place.
The Bobcats are off until Saturday, Oct. 5 when they host the Bates Invitational at Pineland Farms.
