Bobcats Drop Pair to Husson as Eagles Extend Winning Streak to 23 With Non-Conference Sweep

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Hosting Husson University at Bowdoin College's Pickard Diamond, Bates College suffered a non-conference doubleheader sweep to the Eagles as the in-state rivals extended its winning streak to a program-best 23-straight victories.

GAME ONE

Owning a 6-0 lead after two-and-a-half innings, and boasting a 9-3 cushion following a three-spot in the fourth, Husson (28-4) went on to seal an eventual 9-5 triumph in Thursday's opener vs. the Bobcats.

3B Kenzie Dore authored a 3-for-4 showing at the dish for the Eagles as the senior slugged a two-run double in the third, as well as a two-run clout over the centerfield fence in the following frame, to pace the victors.  2B Josie Cornell (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and C Bulla McCabe (2-5, 2 R, RBI) also provided multi-hit efforts for Husson.

3B Emma Yen dazzled for the Bobcats with a 3-for-4 game one as the sophomore would end the day with a .375 batting average and seven-game hitting streak. CF Zariya Anderson went 2-4 atop the Bates lineup while pinch-hitter Sienna Pietrasiewicz laced an RBI triple in a three-run third for the garnet and white.

Danielle Masterson moves to 9-1 on the year for Husson (7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB) as the sophomore slinger struck 10 Bobcats in the effort. Isabella Albro drops to 2-10 (4.0 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 3 HBP) for Bates.

GAME TWO

Ana Lang's complete-game victory, along with a stalemate-snapping two-bagger in the fifth by C Emily Dunbar, locked down a 3-0 win for the Eagles in the nightcap.

Behind a dominating 12-strikeout performance in the circle, the first-year hurler hailing from Swanton, Vt. improves to 14-2 overall for Husson. Delaney Rankin (6-9) permitted two runs (1 ER) on four hits and four walks (5 K) in the start for the Bobcats. The sophomore also recorded a pair of hits of her own with the bat.

The aforementioned Yen, with two more knocks the second game, finishes the afternoon going a combined 5-for-7 batting second for the Bobcats.

Bates concludes its regular-season this Saturday with a noon NESCAC doubleheader scheduled vs. Trinity College on Lafayette Street Field.
