WATERVILLE, Maine -- Sporting identical line scores through the first three periods of play, Colby College controlled the pace in the final frame with four goals en route to a 14-11 victory vs. visiting Bates College in the NESCAC men's lacrosse regular-season finale for both squads.
With the scored knotted at 10-10 after three quarters, the Mules opened the fourth with three unanswered tallies to go ahead by three with 11:33 remaining in regulation and, ultimately, clinching the conference win.
Cormac O'Neill and Gavin Rothenberg each contributed hat tricks in the Colby triumph while Nick Sokolosky poured in a pair for the Mules (6-8, 2-8 NESCAC).
Wil Masterson, sporting the garnet and white for the final time, closes out his collegiate career with three goals and a trio of ground balls.
Gray Doyle, the team's leading scorer with 24 goals, 18 assists, and 42 points as a first-year, added two tallies and a helper Tuesday night.

Andrew Toland, who tops all NESCAC goalkeepers with 196 saves and average of 14.00 saves-per-game, ends his maiden college campaign with seven denials over 60:00 Tuesday vs. Colby.
