LEWISTON, Maine -- #4 Wesleyan University secured its seventh-straight victory Sunday as the visiting Cardinals coasted to an 18-5 road win vs. Bates College in NESCAC women's lacrosse action.
12 different players found the back of the net for Wesleyan (12-2, 7-2 NESCAC), led by Olivia Lai (Gr.-Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Sam DeLeon (Jr.-Brewster, N.Y.) with four points (3 goals, 1 assist) apiece. Lai now leads the Cardinals with 42 goals on the season (5th in NESCAC).
Bridget Horst (So.-Pomfret, Conn.) followed with two tallies and an assist for Wesleyan, while also grabbing a game-high six draw controls.
Lauren Wong, with her two goals on the day, leads the garnet and white with 22 on the year.
Madeleine Donovan and
Sadie O'Neil garnered a goal and helper each for the Bobcats.
Hanna Matthews also connected for a goal in the effort.
Izzy Weintraub (So.-Oceanside, N.Y.), the first of three goalkeepers to see action for Wesleyan on the day, earned the victory (1Â save, 38:12) for the visitors.
Avery Lehman suffered the loss in net for Bates (2Â saves, 50:12).
The Bobcats (5-9, 1-8 NESCAC) concludes its 2024 regular-season slate this Wednesday evening with a 7:00 p.m. home game vs. Colby College.
