Marrich Somridhivej (South Windsor, Conn.) entered the 100-yard breaststroke race as the 24th seed among 37 swimmers. He shattered expectations on Friday with a 15th-place showing, breaking his own school record with a time of 54.36 seconds in the morning prelims and following that up in the evening with a time of 54.77 seconds, securing the third All-America performance of his career.Â
