MANAHAWKIN, NJ — As a result of the most recent National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) elections, the NFHCA Executive Director and Nominating Committee Chair has confirmed that Dani Kogut will have a seat on the NFHCA Board of Directors as Vice President of Membership.
Kogut currently serves as the head coach of Bates College, where she has led the Bobcats for 11 seasons and was named 2023 NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. She has previously served on the NFHCA All-American Committee while continuing to sit on the Bylaws Committee.
At Bates, Kogut is also the co-chair of the Athletics DEI Committee. She previously served as head coach at the University of New England for two years and held previous assistant coach positions at the University of Vermont and Tufts University. She is a former camp director for Revolution Field Hockey Camps in IL., MA, and ME. as well as the former Director of Coastal Field Hockey, a non-profit field hockey club in Maine. During her time with Coastal, the organization was honored with the USA Field Hockey Grow the Game Award in 2018. Kogut is also the current co-director of Main(e) Event Field Hockey Camps, which pulls together nine college/university programs in Maine.
"I am deeply grateful to the NFHCA membership and thank them for entrusting me with this role. It has been a privilege to serve on other NFHCA committees and I am looking forward to this new opportunity with the association," said Kogut. "Through my various roles with the NFHCA, youth field hockey, and collegiate field hockey I have learned the power of connection and belonging, and I hope to positively strengthen this exceptional community of coaches in the years to come."
The Bobcats had a historic year in 2023, matching the program record with 13 wins and setting a new team standard with seven NESCAC victories. As the three seed, Bates hosted a NESCAC Championships game for the first time ever, prevailing 2-1 in double overtime over Bowdoin in the quarterfinals for the team's first-ever win in the conference tournament.
The remarkable season continued when the Bobcats earned the program's first bid to the NCAA Championships, hosting and winning their first-round game 7-0 over Johnson & Wales.
The newly elected board members officially begin their terms of service on March 1, 2024 and will go through an onboarding process before the April 2024 NFHCA Board of Directors meeting.
