LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College volleyball, behind a career-high 22 kills by junior
Ami Evans, returned to the win column Wednesday as the Bobcats secured a 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 25-11) non-conference home triumph vs. St. Joseph's College of Maine.
The garnet and white improves to 8-6 overall and a stellar 6-1 in Alumni Gym. The Monks drop to 5-13 with the setback.
Evans, now with two matches of 20+ kills this season (9/21 vs. Hamilton), finished the evening flooring 22 of 54 attacks (six errors), good for a .296 hitting percentage. The captain also settled 16 digs, securing Evans her fifth double-double of the fall.
Skye Higashihara, with 46 assists and 10 digs, recorded her fourth double-double as a first-year.
Sofia Castiglioni enjoyed her fourth outing of 10+ kills as the sophomore slammed 12 in Wednesday's win.
Ellie Asada contributed 14 digs and a match-best four service aces. First-year
Sami Kim authored a pair of career-bests with her 25 digs and seven assists.
Victoria Briones (16 digs, 14 kills) and Tamya Johnson (11 assists, 11 digs) each provided double-double efforts for St. Joseph's.
Bates returns to NESCAC play this Friday with a 7:00 p.m. visit to Connecticut College next on the slate.
