WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- A 60th-minute tally snapped a scoreless stalemate and put host-Williams ahead by a 1-0 score as the No. 15 Ephs held on to defeat visiting Bates College Saturday in NESCAC women's soccer action.
Senior Tori Huang (Arlington, Mass.), courtesy of an Ansley Burns (Jr.-Scottsdale, Ariz.) helper, netted her team-best fifth goal of the season at 59:04. The effort would prove to be the game-winner.
Williams (6-2-1, 5-1-1 NESCAC), has now kept its opponent scoreless in five straight contests. The Ephs almost doubled the Bobcats in the shot column, 17-9, with a 5-2 surplus on frame.
Ana Bozzi-Mackay (So.-Los Angeles, Calif.), playing the entire second half in net for Williams, earned the goalkeeping victory with two saves over her 45:00.
Ruby Reimann collected four saves in a complete-game performance for Bates (4-3-1, 1-3 NESCAC).
Isabelle Bernal accounted for three of the Bobcats' nine shots on the day in 34 minutes off the bench.
The garnet and white returns to the pitch Sunday with an 11:00 a.m. match set at Hamilton.
