HARTFORD, Conn . -- A pair of unanswered tallies proved to make all the difference for Trinity College Saturday as the host-Bantams erased an initial 1-0 deficit to defeat Bates College, 2-1, in NESCAC men's soccer action.
The visiting Bobcats got on the board first as
Mauro Kalaora put away a
Harry Corman helper in the 15th minute (14:52), providing the sophomore midfielder his first collegiate goal for the garnet and white.
Bates would own the advantage for the next four minutes until Trinity's Nick Bellak (Jr.-Amherst, Mass.) deposited the equalizer at 18:55. The 1-1 stalemate lasted until late in the second half as Bellak struck again at 86:45, sending home what proved to be the game-winner for the Bantams (2-4-2, 1-3-2 NESCAC).
Bellak ends the day leading the Trinity roster with three goals on the season.
The victors outshot the Bobcats, 16-10, while more than doubling Bates (13-6) when it came to attempts on frame.
Nate Dyott (So.-Tarrytown, N.Y.) collect the complete-game win in net for the Bantams, registering a trio of saves over his 90 minutes.
Trevor Hammond continues to impress in goal for the Bobcats as the first-year keeper grabbed nine saves in the effort.
Bates (2-6, 0-5 NESCAC) now looks forward to playing its fourth-consecutive contest away from campus with the Bobcats heading to the University of Southern Maine this Tuesday night for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference tilt vs. the Huskies.
